Beware the Books of January!

Posted in: Bookish

I read four books this month, and nothing really lept out and captured my interest.

Jacklyn Moriarity, A Year of Secret Assignments (4)
Gordon Korman, Son of Interflux (6)
Libby Bray, A Great and Terrible Beauty (6)
Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Match Me If You Can (7)

The Korman book I read multiple times in my youth, and I’m struck how well it stands up. There are some dated references, but not all that many.

I used to LOVE Gordon Korman books, although I don’t think I ever read Son of Interflux. I loved Bruno and Boots, but my all time favourite is “A Semester in the Life of a Garbage Bag.”

I’ve been reading Tim Winton this month; first The Riders, now Dirt Music. SO good. Actually, I say this month…thinking of January…but these are really just since last Saturday. :)
