We interrupt this vacation recap to bring you this… August 9, 2008
Right now, I’m home and still have a few days of my vacation to recap. I’m still trying to decide if it’s a good vacation if you don’t want to be home at the end of it - Wednesday morning as I sat in the airport in Saint John [1], all I could think about was how little I wanted to be home [2] and how much I already missed the people and places I’d seen.
Fortunately, I took the rest of the week off, so I’ve had a few days to re-acclimatize myself to my current home base, and I’m a little bit looking forward to going back to work, if only to dig my desk out from under what I suspect are many, many boxes of donations and new materials.
Readjusting to home life hasn’t been easy, if only because I’ve had a migraine since Thursday night and because my backyard underwent a spontaneous makeover the night before I got home. A tree fell in my neighbour’s yard, and there’s a hell of a lot more light than there used to be. No one was hurt, and nothing got damaged, so it’s all good.
Anyway, I’ll try to finish recapping my trip before the end of the weekend.
[1] Not St. John’s, which is in Newfoundland, and heaven help you if you mix the two cities up in front of someone from Saint John, New Brunswick. They are lovely, friendly people there, but they won’t hesitate to correct you if you call it the wrong name.
[2] And that was before I found out what was waiting for me at home!
