On the first day of post-NaNoWriMo, Lisa tagged me
Lisa at The Rage Diaries pegged me for a meme, and since I’m coming off a writing high, here goes nothing.
The rules!
1. Link to the person who tagged me.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog. (Actually, if they’re regular readers of your blog, then #4 should do the trick.)
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.
Okay, so here goes:
1. In grade three, I wrote a story about my Cabbage Patch Kid, Leda Melody. It was about how she and my sister’s Cabbage Patch Kids (I can’t remember their names) got lost in the woods and made friends with the elves who lived there. Somewhere, I still have the notebook in which I wrote it.
2. When I was about eight, I got mad at my parents for something, and I scratched the word “NO” into the windowsill which had just been stained. When my parents asked who did it, I blamed it on my little sister, who would have been about three at the time, and THEY BELIEVED ME.
3. Yet another story from my early youth: my grandmother had lung cancer, and I knew that her cigarettes she chain smoked were just making her sicker (she died when I was eight, so I would have been about seven, maybe). She got up to go to the bathroom, and while she was there, I took her carton of cigarettes and broke every last one of them so she wouldn’t be able to smoke them anymore. Needless to say, she was not very grateful when she got back.
4. When I was in university, I was fired from my waitress job after only two weeks, and I was pretty depressed. Around the same time I was volunteering at the library for the Community Access Program and they had a summer student position available that they offered me. I ended up working for the program for about two years, which led to my interest in libraries in general, and eventually to my attending library school after I graduated. I like to tell people that getting fired from that job was the best thing that ever happened to me!
5. My name was going to be Paul if I’d been a boy, and I used to wish my parents had named me Paulette or Pauline. Instead, I was named after my great-grandmother (although I used to tell people I was named after the street my mom lived on when she met my dad.)
6. I’ve never traveled outside of North America (and very little in the US, at that), and have no desire to either. I’m perfectly content using my vacations to visit family or catch up on my reading. What can I say – I’m a homebody.
